Magic: The Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers (XBLA)

I played this game after getting back into TCG recently. It focuses on the Planeswalker cards (But it doesn't yet you use said planeswalker cards). This is a huge improvement over the Magic: The Gathering game on Xbox not too long ago. Some of the AI is a bit too lucky for my tastes, but hey, that's how it goes. Other than that, it's a solid Live Arcade title if you are into Magic: The Gathering.

  • This game is perfect for Newcommer in the Magic universe.
Its easy to understand, the rules are really well explain, the cards are bright and well animated. It have 9 deck in the original version and add 3 more deck with the Duel the Dragon DLC. Each deck with 15-20 card to unlock to expand and modify the deck.
    The Original.
The game have a Campaign Solo with 16 match, And a Coop with 14 match and 8 Challenge who ask you to finish a pre-set game in one turn.

  • Picture everything you love about Magic: The Gathering, Remove the ability to customize your deck, then make it a digital purchase and there you go. The game doesn't allow you to customize your deck but lets you earn different elemental decks and mixed ones with the opportunity to unlock cards for those decks allowing some replay value. other than that you have get to do challenges which gives the game variety and online battles. Oh did I mention you can either get a mentor or become one online imagine that…

  • This game could be perfect if you could use your favourite deck. It needs a deck editor :)

  • This is a very well made version of Magic the Gathering. Hardcore MTG players should probably ignore this one and go for the Magic Online pc game instead.

A lot of people complain over the lack of a all-out desk editor, but I feel that makes it more enjoyable. Not everyone wants people to make overpowered decks that will be difficult to beat. All the decks have the ability to beat each other. It all comes down to strategy and draws to win.

  • Point #1: The interface is SMOOOOOVE and gorgeous. Flying cards float, arrows show what cards are blocking who, and when a card can be played... it glows yellow. Zooming in and out is effortless, and the little button to "See more info" is great for learning the details about abilities.

Point #2: I am a noobie to this game. Always seemed cool, but inaccessible. Too many editions, what set is playable with what? How do I even begin? This made it accessible and, above all else, FUN! Since playing I…

  • This version of Magic is not for competitive players, it is really tailored for beginners and older players who may still enjoy the game but has not the money or time to stay on top of all the new cards WOTC keeps pumping out. Duels features 7 prebuilt decks that you gradually unlock as you play the single player campaign. Most of the are mono-colored affairs, with a couple of funky multicolored decks unlocked later on. And as you beat the computer with a particular deck, extra…

  • While the lack of real deck customization was disappointing to me, I still enjoy playing this version of M:TG. The gameplay can be a little sluggish since you need to stop the timer to examine cards, but it feels as close to playing the real thing as one could.

If you really liked playing M:TG back in the day, then this is a game you need to get. If Magic (or collectable card games in general) isn't your thing, then this isn't the game you are looking for.

  • 9/10 - I used to play Magic alot in high school but after a while i kinda drifted to other interests. I started the game at my friends house (he bought it) and i was instantly sucked back in. The game plays just like a physical card game and after getting used to the controls it became as natural to me as it was in the lunch room all those years ago. The deck building and unlockable cards are a wonderful touch and they're going to add more decks via…

  • I was first in Australia to 200 it. So naturally I love it. Will never beat the real thing though :P

  • Just like the card game itself, this is set up with expansion packs in mind. You're essentially given a good load of booster decks, an admittedly beautiful series of art screens to house the gameplay, and a brilliantly streamlined UI. It's only beaten by the aged PC version, and that's simply due to the lack of customisation options and the smell of $$$ when those expansion packs do appear on the horizon, but for those looking to get into Magic, or for veterans, you couldn't go far wrong. Steer clear…

  • Great game if you like the card game, and also a great way to learn the card game's rules. It would be awesome if you create your own deck or somehow scan real cards.

  • Some might feel the certain decks are overwhelming, especially seen a lot of complaints about the mighty elven deck, however if you spend time with every single one of the decks you discover that they well created and excellent tools to introduce new players to the subtle sneakiness of using death mill deck or a well timed wrath of god.

I bit more effort and quick reflexes are required when playing instants.

Hopefully fully customisable decks are in the future, no fun drawing land 5 turns in a row.
