In Super Mario RPG, Mario's beloved Mushroom Kingdom has been thrown into chaos by the appearance of an extraterrestrial more » villain. This evil and outer space menace, Smithy, brings fear and treachery to the once-pleasant Mushroom Kingdom. Once Smithy crashes into the Star Road, he causes seven stars to be scattered throughout the land. Mario and his friends must recover the Seven Stars and repair the Star Road by making an epic journey to Bowser's castle to confront the dreaded Smithy. Princess Toadstool, Mallow, Geno, and--believe it or not!--Bowser help Mario restore tranquility and happiness to the Mushroom Kingdom. Powerful weapons, sinister spells and other items help Mario complete his harrowing journey. Conflicts take place in animated battle screens. This is a game that truly needs an honest sequel. I enjoy the Paper Mario series, but it's not the same as Super Mario RPG! With today's modern RPG's you can make an instant classic. More RPG's need to use the element of timed hits. Everyone agrees I'm sure, that there needs to be a true sequel of this masterpiece.

This RPG was one of the best for years. I wonder why they don't do a sequel. Its still fun to play, has memorable characters besides Mario and Bowser, and has a killer soundtrack.

"I can still remember getting this for my birthday when I was like....10. It was my first true RPG, and I loved every minute of it. The simple and cliche RPG elements probably made it an ideal transition. Its one of those games Ive probably played through at least 4x. Even throughout the days of PSX I always claimed Mario RPG to be my fav of all time. What makes it so great? More than likely b/c it was produced by Squaresoft. Super Mario RPG has to be the greatest RPG that Squaresoft (or Square-Enix) has created.

The gameplay is simple yet fun, isometric maps and battles bring Mario to a whole new level.

The story is of course, full of cliche's.

The soundtrack in this game goes down as one of my favorites.

The replayability value is endless, I guarantee I've played this game each 2 years.

Honestly, this is the best RPG ever made. And before all you WoW people bust in here going "NU UH" ask yourself this:

Is your favorite RPG easily playable by everyone from ages 6-60?

SMRPG is one of those games. It's not too long, so you don't feel as if you're watching a 90 hour movie and the zainy comedic happenings are second to none. For anyone on the fence about RPGs I swear you'll be hooked on them if you make SMRPG your first one.
