  • A beautiful game with an really great soundtrack. It's a relaxing game where you play several city flowers' dreams in which they awaken nature. You basically control the wind as it blows your petal around to collect other petals, creating a windstorm of flowers. It's a collecting game utilizing the SixAXIS controller's motion sensing. The game really gives you the sense of flying, and that's what I love about it.

  • Having just bought a PS3 Slim, and still waiting for LittleBigPlanet to arrive, one of the first games I cracked on with was Flower. Having played the original flOw game on the PC a long time ago, I sort of knew what atmosphere to expect, but the game has an amazing character of its own. Its an incredibly serene and relaxing experience, and it looks simply beautiful. The SixAxis controls are really amazing, and very lifelike. Definitely enjoying this marvellous game!

  • No other game this generation has filled me with such child-like glee at the wind and how it can blow petals into beauty.

  • This genre-defying game is the most impressive game I've played so far over PSN. In a service shock-full of excellent offerings like Wipeout HD and the PixelJunk series, Flower surpasses them all in sheer beauty and ingenuity.

  • Fantastic! A game that defies categorization . Flower succeeds in exploring a totally new game experience all wrapped up in a gorgeous coating. Sure its simple, but thats the point.
The inclusion of a 'free mode' where there are no goals or collectibles would have been welcome.

  • This game seemed like a tech demo. I kept thinking..."Okay NOW the game will start" when playing. It's a beautiful game but that's about it.

I know this review may seem odd because I LOVED Flow which was also made by Sony (Santa Monica I think). With Flower, I felt detached, lulled and bored.

Granted, I didn't make it to the end...

  • Beautiful game. Worth the $10 at the PSN store. If you still haven't seen what this game looks like, I recommend checking it out on YouTube. The simple controls work so well, 1 button to move, (any button can be used), and then the rest is controlled by Sixaxis, like a steering wheel. The surroundings are stunning, I can only imagine what this game would look like on a 1080P TV set-up. The music is wonderful and doesn't get annoying. High Recommended.

  • This generation we have seen visuals push the limits of what our TVs can output. We have heard 7.1 audio blast our ears in way's we never thought possible. Online gaming has been pushed beyond just gaming to create social hangouts for everyone in the family. So why during this great push in gaming technology am I about to proclaim Flower the best next-gen game I have ever seen? Read on and hopefully I can convince you to drop the ten dollars on this gem.

The first thing that must be understood upon starting up Flower is to forget about most of your tried and true gaming habits. No worries about a clock ticking down or a score which will be pitted against the rest of the world. Sit back, relax and for the first time enjoy using the PS3's SIXAXIS feature in your controller.

The basic concept of the game is to pollinate flower after flower. You control the wind by hitting a single button which provides a puff of air and the rest is controlled by the movement of your controller. As you pollinate every flower in each section the world around it comes to life with beautiful cut scenes. On the surface this might sound boring but combine this with spot-on controls and fantastic visuals with music to match and you have the most unique next-gen experience we have seen.

Everything about this game resembles a painting. From the moment you fire up the game and view the intro video to the menu (which simply shows a window with one plant waiting for you to tilt your controller towards it and bring it to life), you will be impressed. As you progress through the game you will see more flower pots show up in front of your window representing new levels you can explore.

It is not often that a game comes along and really blows me away with something new. It happened with Braid last year and Portal the year before that. Flower has already made 2009 a special year for those that want something new in gaming. This is the sort of game that someone could hand off to a non-gamer and watch them get sucked into the world of Flower. It is games like this that could put the PSN on the map.

If I could say one negative thing about Flower it is the simple fact that as of this review, there is no demo for this fantastic game. A little taste of this gaming gem could go a long way for sales and exposure.

Bottom Line Flower is like no other game I have ever played and deserves all the praise in the world. The perfect game to relax with at the end of a day and the first game to show off SIXAXIS as an actual gaming mechanic.
