Great gameplay in a fairly interesting world marred by the sloppiest storytelling this side of my grandmother's synopsis of some show she thinks she saw once. Seriously, no more faux comic cut scenes. I don't want a recap of a good story, I want a good story.

I have a hard time believing that a game with so many comical detection errors is passable these days. Unfortunately, it was the first thing I noticed about the game and was REALLY irritated by it because my expections were so high after reading and watching some fantastic reviews and all it's comparisons to Prototype. However, the game is fun and not so "lather, rinse, repeat" like Prototype was. Honestly though, if you put Prototype together with inFamous, you'd have an amazing game. Takes what we've seen a trillion times before and perfects it to almost unbelievability. Your powers are strong, but not so much so that the game is easy, you are constantly facing new and diverse enemies (my favorite were each gang's own "conduits") and the story is ingenious. You care for the characters (whether you chose the good or evil side) to see it through to the end, to find out character's fates and other twists i never saw coming. FUCK YOU 360 guys who say it should be on the 360 cause if it was you would get the RROD once the game went in cause it would just be too much for it and dont rate a game on how the PS3 controller is, you base it on the gameplay. thats to you DERRICK. 5 STARS

Much better than Prototype. The climbing and exploration is well done, combat is handled well, and the story and voice acting are passable.

Another fun and different PS3 open world 3rd person shooter title. I like the fact that you don't use guns, but wish there were a few more powers to choose from and combine into unique attacks and defenses. Having said that this game has a ton going for it - lots of missions and side missions with a decent amount of variety, and the ability to take your character into morally gray areas, for example. Was an awesome game, I really liked the way in which the game was portrayed with comic like cut scenes. the controls were solid... the powers are beautiful and deadly, the boss battle were intense, challenging and fun, this is defiantly a must play game... if you missed it, your losing out... big time.

However, the game is fun and not so "lather, rinse, repeat" like Prototype was. Honestly though, if you put Prototype together with inFamous, you'd have an amazing game. Neither of the games were perfect, especially not inFamous, but both games featured qualities that the other was missing. The thing that really stands out for inFamous is how your actions have consequences within the context of the game, almost like an RPG. The other thing, as previously mentioned, is the more varied mission types. The zipping along train tracks and wires around the cityscape is undeniable fun! Another feature I liked was the "motion comic" style cutscenes, but I think Prototype was a little better at telling it's story overall. inFamous' "radar pulse" feature is great, too... it helps you locate the collectibles hidden around the city, unlike Prototype where you just had to hunt until you got fed up with it! Despite what others have said, which I interpret as only hatebox speak, I have no reason to believe this game would take an Xbox to task with as many flaws as it has. However, the environments are all distinguishable from each other and very well rendered, but the character modeling is mediocre at best. As another RAPTR reviewer mentioned, the controls are also a little sketchy, but I don't think it's a hardware problem, I think it's an interface problem. I have also never been a fan of enemies being able to shoot you when you can't see them, like THROUGH cover. I think the developer was unable to fix this flaw, so they added the "arcing" power that allows you to zap enemies hiding behind metallic cover. And to be honest, this game is probably just a few more flaws away from being broken. This is a really fun game though, and from my experience with PS3, one of it's better exclusive titles, but I really expected more from all the critical acclaim it received. The current Metacritic score of 85 is probably pretty close to accurate, but a 79 or 80 would be spot on. As far as the inFamous/Prototype debate... my vote's for Prototype only because it was a violent gorefest. inFamous isn't nearly as violent and has no gore or blood, except for your own blood splattered on the screen as you take damage. I guess if I was a parent, I would be more apt to buy inFamous for a 12 year old girl as opposed to Prototype where you could literally splatter humans against walls like you were spiking a football. « less
