Folklore (PS3)

Folklore is an action game with some RPG-style customizability. There are two main characters. One is a girl named Ellen more » who is seeking the truth about her past. The other is a man named Keats, a journalist for an occult magazine who is investigating a possible murder. The story is set in the present-day.Ellen (led by a message from her dead mother) and Keats (after receiving a distressed phone call) are lured to an Irish village called Doolin, where it is rumoured that the living can meet the dead. In the course of the game, they travel to the netherworld and encounter faeries and monsters, or "Folk."In battle, Ellen and Keats can absorb Folks' ids and gain new abilities for use in battle. This is usually done by timed movements of the motion-sensing controller.Four folks can be mapped to controller buttons, making the play fast-paced like an action game, with a degree of customization. The player can choose to play either Keats' or Ellen's storyline. There are seven realms, all based on different notions of what the afterlife might be like. « less

Playing for many many hours already... Graphics are great but the story and combat system is fantastic... Certanly one of the best rpgs for the ps3 these days ^^

Best Action RPG game on the console to this day. 09-25-09.

The atmosphere and soundtrack in this game are top notch, and the effects and graphics are still on par with the newest games coming out.

There is a decent amount of replayability built into the game with the ability capture more demons to power up what you already have. In addition the developers did a fantastic job of releasing additional content that included further quests as well as outfits and monsters for the game protagonists.

Story-
The game centers around a young blonde woman named Ellen, and a journalist named Keats, both playable characters. Together they unravel the mystery that the quaint village of Doolin hides, the mystery that can only be solved by seeking the memories of the dead in the dangerous, Folk-ridden Netherworld.
The story is interesting, a murder mystery/action/RPG fare on contacting the dead. The two characters have some interesting starts but seem just a little paper? plastic? Who knows, but the emotion one would feel isn't really existent. In the end RPG and…

Fading into obscurity, this title is an ultra-mega sleeper hit waiting for you on your playstation 3. A little slow to take off, but has mystery whodunit elements combined with RPG style gameplay, topped with amazing and interactive while still surprisingly deep combat. More voice acting would be awesome, but that's a small gripe on a game that drifts between normal real world, and six? different netherworlds as you try to unlock the mystery from two different protagonist viewpoints. Amazing game, must own for any playstation 3 owner. I promise.…
