Don't be fooled by its flashy, silly exterior. FFX-2 is a great game with one of the best battle systems ever found in an FF game. Half turn based, half real time (think Grandia) and the ability to change jobs mid-battle make each enemy encounter worthwhile. The story continues the events of FFX and although it is a lot more light hearted, theres a great experience to be had here. Please don't judge this book by its cover!
As a game, this game offered some playability. The dressup combat could appeal to some casual gamers.
However, to everyone else, and especially as a sequel to one of the best games of all time, this title failed horribly. The entire storyline was absolutely irrelevant, the ending was predictable, and the gameplay left me wanting more. One of the worst Final Fantasies ever made.
I'm a big Final Fantasy Fan and for a long time, FF7 was a favorite that I didn't think could be beat. But I was totally won over by Tidus and Yuna in FF10. FF10 and FFX-2 are now my favorite Final Fantasies...though the upcoming Final Fantasy 13 looks extremely promising.
The girlyness is a bit silly, true, but it's also rather believable. Yuna is emo as usual, but the combat system is definitely a very entertaining and very rewarding one. The ability system is fun and takes a while to get everything, and the class system gives it tons of replayability... Plus theres a ton of freedom. There's so much stuff you can do and so much sidequests that it's really easy to miss a lot of it without beating the game multiple times and searching like a maniac. lol.…
