Much improved over the original game. The graphics have received a nice makeover with a little extra gloss. Some of the new abilities are great, but then it suffers the same problems the original game did. It just turns into a boring grindfest at the end. This time round though, Blizzard went crazy with their raids which became way too exclusionist! All the elite players that were willing to spend what a normal working person would spend during a week, could reap all the really good stuff. But if you didn't have that time or weren't willing to spend that time then you didn't get to see how the story progressed. Which was hard to catch anyway, getting only vague points about the story.
Full marks to Blizzard for really pushing what we define as fantasy for the Burning Crusade. Hellfire Peninsula was just a "whoa!" moment when stepping through for the first time, quite amazing.
Im not a raider, or hardcore Wow stats sort-of-guy. I like atmosphere, exploration and the like. Outland is just a gorgeous experience from levels 58-70. Extra Thumbs up for the soundtrack, its a stunner.
As a game, WOW is brilliant, vast and wonderful. As a phenomenon it scares me and it definetly changed the world of pc gaming and maybe the world in general.
It cannot even begin to thing about the countless hours/days/weeks of my life I spent grinding, leveling, collecting etc.
At the end of the day, the game is actually not very deep and rewarding if you think about it and I pledged never to play it again and to support other games again, but this one shook me to the bone.
