If you loved the original Colonization, this is more of the same (and then some!). Taken for it's own merits, this is a "4X" game that downplays the 'eXterminate', until you declare independence and have to battle your parent country. After being spoiled with Civilization 4 (especially if you hack it to enable religious victories), it's a shame that there's only one way to win, and there isn't much incentive to interact with your neighbors other than slowing down their progress towards independence.
