  • Savage 2 really does provide a unique experience, however the game lacks the immersive punch it needs to bring this up to a 4 or 5 star title.

Savage 2 tries to combine RTS, MMO/Action RPG, and first person shooter genres into one cohesive experience. While it does bring all the genres together, it pays the cost of feeling mediocre in each of those genres. But to judge this game through genres is like reviewing spore in sections, it just doesnt make sense. The whole experience is worth the price, if you are the right crowd that is. This is a hardcore game that really has its niche, I cant really say if you belong in that niche it is just up to yourself.

Map makers/modders on the other hand will enjoy the amazing map edior coupled with some powerful scripting. These features alone are worth half the price of the game. There is also a growing map making and modding community that proves to be very helpful to newcomers.

Visually, the game feels mediocre once again. Nothing to ugly, but really nothing that stands out. The RTS/commander mode looks the best, on the flipside, I would recomend staying out of first person mode as a normal player.

I say, play the trial and see if you like it. It gives you the practice mode, map editor, and an hour of online gameplay for free.
