It does something with games that most people don't really notice. It makes you and your partners actually work together to survive to the end. It may not be the best single player experience but it certainly gives a good co-op gameplay and that's what I wanted. You can jump into this game with your friends and know that it's going to be a great time.
Co-op games are always good fun (specially on a LAN) & this does the co-op very well. You can survive on your own but it's very difficult & playing on-line can be frustrating when someone rushes way ahead then expects you to save them in 5 seconds when something goes wrong. Can also be annoying when "team mates" don't agree with your choice of weapon (get over it & play the game). Graphics are good & there are a number of community add-ons & mods around now, but the gameplay can get repetitive & generally the final battle in each campaign is to survive multiple 'hoard rushes' until you escape (usually by vehicle).
Even though the sequel will be out next month this is still a quality game well worth the purchase. The best co-op I've ever seen, a realistic atmosphere, believable characters, and even a little humour.
There is a shortage on official campaigns but the AI Director (if not quite as much as was promised) keeps the game fresh for a long a time.
Valve has hinted at even more DLC to come too so there's even more to look forward to!
Who doesn't love killing zombies with friends and family? L4D is a fast paced FPS with a focus on teamwork. L4D can be fun when played solo with 3 AIs helping but really shines when played online.
In the campaign mode your objective is to survive hordes of hungry infected, including the 5 "special" infected that have various powers you need to overcome as a team, while trying to reach the next "safe house."
VS modes is similar to the campaign except now the "special" infected are controlled by other players who's only objective is to make sure the survivors don't make it out alive.
If you're looking to kill hordes of infected without having to worry about any specific objective then survival mode is the mode for you. Survival mode tests your team's ability to work together as you try to survive as long as you can against endless waves of infected.
L4D's only downside is that is has very few campaigns maps to play through which starts to get boring after awhile. A wider selection of weapons would help keep things interesting longer as well.
All in all L4D is a great game for everyone that loves to kill zombies.
this game is awesome but it may grow old after a while eaven whit the so called A.I Director. Let's just hope that Valve fixes the problems whit this game in the upcoming sequel
