In Heroes of Newerth, two teams of up to five players each take on the role of special Hero units. With the assistance o more »f AI-controlled armies, each team sets out with the sole objective of destroying the other team's base. As a match progresses, players can earn experience and gold which can be used to upgrade skills or purchase items to make their character more powerful. The team-oriented design of HoN coupled with unprecedented in-game Voice-Over-IP controls and Clan Support allow for an incredibly deep, tactical team-based experience. « less

In a nutshell, Heroes of Newerth is DOTA taken to the next level. Well, in graphics and efficiency at least. You basically take a hero from DOTA, reskin it, change it's skill names, and slap on some new shine and sheen and POOF! HoN. Not saying that it's a bad thing. You necessarily don't fix something that ain't broke, right? Graphics are good and they can run on old computers without taxing the system that much and the servers hosting the game are quite lagless, though there are occasional bouts…

Great game. Even though I dislike DotA a few friends of mine suggested that I'd check it out. I played a few games with my friends before I totally got hooked, got a beta invite and eventually decided to pre-purchase the game.

Awesome game, for sure.

For any DotA fan, this is a MUST! The game is running a very parallel line with DotA, but on a separate engine from Warcraft 3. S2Games made a DotA game from the ground up. The heroes are more fun, the shops are easier to navigate, and it's altogether much more user-friendly than Warcraft 3's interface is. Still in closed beta, but I can see GREAT things coming from this game!

This is basically a clone of Defence of the Ancients with improved graphics and many nifty little features to enhance both social and competitive play. Hero balancing is a problem but the game is still in closed BETA so these things are to be expected. I'm expecting big things once it hits release time. :)

Graphics are good and they can run on old computers without taxing the system that much and the servers hosting the game are quite lagless, though there are occasional bouts of hiccups and what-not, something to be expected of anything dealing with online latency. What makes the game pure win is that it's fun and easy to get into. Sure there are a lot of heroes to choose from but that's one of the reasons to get you hooked because you have an entirely different experience for each game. There's no one game that's the same. I give Heroes of Newerth, 5 thums up, assuming I have 5 hands of course. « less
