Tribes of the East is the second stand-alone expansion pack for Heroes of Might and Magic V once again set in Ashan Worl more »d but now bringing the Stronghold faction with orcs to the table and an additional upgrade to all dwellings. The first mission introduces the orcs, followed by 3 full campaigns for the Necropolis, Academy and Stronghold faction, with 5 missions each and all linking a single storyline.There are also improvements to the gameplay itself, bugfixes, and a revision of the combat interface and a refined map editor. Other changes include new and easier access to spells, and settings for in-game and combat modes, providing additional information about the minions.The new Stronghold faction offers 7 units (Centaur, Cyclops, Goblin, Shaman, Slayer, Warrior and Wyvern), the racial skill Blood Rage and the Barbarian as a hero. « less

Heroes of might and Magic 2 was the first computer game I've ever played, and I've been a fan of the series ever since. I didn't really have any big expectations after the 4th game (which was a complete failure in my eyes) but they almost managed to pull it off this time! I was actually fairly impressed bt the nice graphics, good music (they could have put in some of the really classic themes to increase the nostalgic feeling though...) and cool castles.

I've been a long player of HoMM since Heroes 2. Heroes 5 is a big improvement from Heroes 4 and is more similar to Heroes 3. With Tribes of the East they introduced the ability to upgrade basic units to one of two kinds. Usually they are similar except for an ability or a different balance of attack and defense. I think this is a good addition and allows for more customization in armies. Besides that I think the game play is pretty solid and a good play for fans…

Interesting take on the Heroes of Might and Magic franchise. It's as if a Warcraft III fan designed a Heroes of Might and Magic game.

Sort of a tough adjustment for longtime HoMM fans, Warcraft III players would have no problems figuring out the interface.

Game play was ok, but felt as if it had departed quite a bit from the 'original' NWC versions of HoMM.
