This is a level in HL2 that was cut out from the script. Instead of going to waste they decide to pretty it up and use it as a technical demo for the newer Source Engine. They use it as a benchmark for stress testing hardware to see how good this hardware is to that. So basically when they want to go buy new hardware they get all our results and see which hardware works the best. I think it's a wonderful idea.

Its a freebie, so grab it. As a bonus, its got a benchmark built-in that is a nice test for your PC running the Source engine. Oh and the fisherman near the start is very well done!

It's an ADDON, basically, Valve just decided to make it one day, I guess. Not worth money really.

Not really a game per se since it's only got 1 "level," but still worth a play if you're a fan of the HL series. Lost Coast's primary goal is to showcase what a difference HDR lighting can do to to the game environment & it definitely leaves me impressed & wanting to play more games that incorporate HDR
