  • Fun game but not incredibly deep for an RTS. Card system is amusing but it's sort of a money-sink.

  • This game is a very playable RTS, with a good CCG aspect as well. It's free to play, and even without paying, it's possible to get many many hours from the game. I have to give it 5 stars, because it's very good for what it is.

Online CO-OP PVE is good, the AI is always challenging, and the PVP is good as well. There's even 'tome' pvp, which allows users to use only cards randomly drawn from 6 Boosters.

Amazon.co.uk has an amazing deal on the Retail Box (which functions as a points box), so if you enjoy the game you can invest some extra cash and get some great rewards.

  • Graphics, sound, attention to detail was great. But overall, just wasn't my kind of game. Found it to be a bit tedious and got bored with it pretty quick. Just glad I downloaded it for free before spending any money on this game.

  • At its core, BattleForge is a fun RTS. But its biggest problem is that in the $50 box you buy, you don't get the entire game--there are hundreds of cards to collect, and the 3000 battlepoints the game comes with are nowhere near enough to collect them all. It's like buying StarCraft, but needing to buy units separately with real money. Admittedly, though, since I paid far less than $50 for the game, it's not as much an issue for me ;)

I'm a little worried though. Will we all need to pay money for more card packs when new cards come out? Time will tell. For now though, my copy of Battleforge is well worth the money I put into it, but I'm not sure it would be worth $50 of it.

Update: The game is now $30 retail, and is free-to-play for those so inclined. More players is more better, so I'm upping my rating a star.
