This is most likely the coolest game I have ever played on DS. Nothing negative to say about it what so ever... use your creative mind, leap in and have fun. The other reviews are much more in depth so I will not repeat what they have said. Get it, Try it, Love it.

Didn't like it

The premise has so much potential: solve puzzles by conjuring anything you can imagine! But the realistic limits placed on your imagination suck all the fun out of the game.

The "puzzles" are not really puzzles at all, but rather just situations you're put in with arbitrary, often undefined rules that you have to figure out by losing, guessing what you did wrong, and starting over. It makes one appreciate true puzzle games like Braid, with real, clever solutions all the more.

The worst part about Scribblenauts is the maddeningly awful controls.…

One of the most novel and original games ever released. While it is immense fun conjuring up everything your vocabulary can stretch to, the puzzles are flawed.

I believe the designers may have a true classic if a sequel learnt from the mistakes of this original title.

Incredible design makes this one of the gems of the ds. Worth picking up, as it forces you to think to finish and solve the puzzles, but sometimes the game feels simple, as I saw myself summoning Cthulu and Death to solve all my problems. The movement controls are not good at all, but the overall innovation is cool. Hopefully a sequel could fix all the pending problems in this game. Problems aside this game is still a solid title worthy of playing.

Even though I harp on the clunky controls, I'm still a huge Scribblenauts fan and fully believe that, even with Maxwell's awkwardness, this game is one of the top titles on the Nintendo DS platform. The game is enormous fun as an interactive toy, a sandbox for players to simply muck around outside of the normal progression, and the puzzles themselves can be challenging and encourage some wild thought processes. Scribblenauts has all the makings of a franchise and I will not be surprised at all to see it in…

This game makes me feel completely uncreative. Like Boxhead I'm constantly using the same words to achieve different scenarios, but it's fantastic to see my wife playing the game and coming up with completely different ways of solving the same levels. The dictionary on this thing is unbelievably complete, and you really can write in just about anything that you can think of. A MUST have for any DS owner.

Fun game... if you're creative.

For some reason when I go through all the puzzles I end up using the same words over and over "gun, flamethrower, machine gun, black hole, helicopter, etc". The fun of it though is coming up with something very random and having it work.

For example, one level is "get the cat off the roof". So what did I do? burn down the house! Easy as that.

If you have a DS, you should at least try it out.
