As a strict racing simulation program, Race Pro does a stellar job. The cars handle with brutal realism, the physics are precisely implemented and the tracks have been painstakingly modeled after their real-life counterparts. If you have the patience to run lap after lap refining your driving technique to chase those tenths, you’ll be rewarded with a real sense of accomplishment. But enjoy that feeling, because that’s all you’re getting. The graphics don’t stand up to those of recent console racing games, and the presentation is as dry as the tarmac at the Dubai Autodrome.
What it lacks in presentation, it MORE than makes up for in depth and gameplay. Yeah, it ain't pretty, but it is an above average sim for a console racer. I really like the tracks in this game. Car selection is a bit weak, but the game just overall works, and works WELL! Also, they have been quite supportive when it comes to DLC and updates. A quality racer from a quality developer. Hit me up if you need someone to race with.
A little lacking in the in the presentation, but a game still worthy of any race fans attention. Race Pro is the closest thing to a racing sim I've played on a console thus far. I few glitch I've encountered playing online kept me from giving the game 5 star. It should also be noted that the game is being supported by some decent DLC.
game has its qualities, but it has it short comings as well..
the cars feel n handle well, not only for a racing gamer, but for a novice driver..
I think the courses themselves are actually among some of the best ever in racing games to date.. which just makes me wish, i cud unload sum of my own cool created vehicles, or even sumwhat original to me.. gets old lookin at all the same cars all over every track in every race..my opinion.
That being said, while im enjoying the tracks, i cant help but feel like, ur just not doing anything in the campaign n championship modes.. like.. what am i keepin for? more points jus to get entered into the next race? this hits me hard, as it leaves u with a feelin of not accomplishing anything aftera 2 or 3 hour game session..
Not a bad game overall, and at its price of about 20 bux now anyway, its hard to past too much judgement on it, but then again, it wasnt made to be a game for 20 bux either..
AND!! its Atari, i did expect a little more, as they have been doing a really damn good job on sum of their games as of late.
First the Bad : Lacks polish ingame and in the general interface. You would expect more from a 2009 X360 game. And why bother having a in car cam when it looks like $&#^? The model no way compare to it's competition. Well the upside : Semi-ultra realistic racing! Within the Semi-pro mode it's a pretty well balanced race game. In Proffesional it really needs you to take a look at the pretty comprihensive setup system. With out TCS and ABS the car usually is al over the place and balancing out a car could really and up in managing to let you shift up 2 gears in particular corners.
The career mode is pretty basic and a bit of a drag. For me, it's way to easy in Semi-Pro (generally 5 sec. quicker then te rest of the field) and in Pro a bit too hard. There is no middle ground.
The shifting is really realistic with a moment of 'N' in between gears, when the car is out of gear. This effect creates a bit of a problem in Automatic somehow and makes the car so much slower then Manual. Th is normal, but the gap between laptimes in Semi-Pro and Pro are 2 sec in favour of Pro (without driving aids!).
the problem with this game being on xbox 360 is people WHINE about the graphics being dated. They forget it is a simulation and it does that better than any other "sim" racer. All in all this is an amazing simulation, but for those who play race 07 on the pc it is the same game. Still 5 stars.
