Overlord II improves on every facet of the original, always to good effect. The game also adds a few new features, which unfortunately are hit-and-miss.
You'll love the same humor that is constantly present, the amazing graphics (even better than the first!), and the unusual puzzles, and upgradable minions.
You might not like the new minion control scheme and slightly worse camera.
All in all, a must play. Anyone who played the first and enjoyed it should pick this up immediately.
Overlord II first gives the impression that it will give the player only a very short experience, but let me tell you my friends, it is far more than just a casual game. The main quest is rather short, certainly, but before completing all the sidequests and finding all the items you will certainly be playing this game for a week at the least.
Overlord II would best be defined as a strategy game for the very casual gamer.
Overlord II is the sequel to Overlord. This is a unique game in which the player controls not only the main character the Overlord, but his comedic little gremlin-like minions as well. The story has that the Overlord battling against the Glorious Empire, which seems to be based of the Roman empire, that is on a mission to destroy all that is magic. The story with begins with a young Overlord wreaking havoc. Eventually moving on to the full grown imposing character that is the Overlord who learns of the Glorious Empire and their mission. The game has you spend most the game looking for the different races of minions, the Reds, the Greens, and the Blues. Through out the length of the game the Overlord completes challenges and puzzles using his minions collecting artifacts and besieging towns. The Overlord's home the Tower located in the Netherworld serves as your base though out the game. From here you can upgrade the Overlord and his minions. One of the new features of the game allows players to revive lost minions. Also the minions will gain the ability to mount creatures based off their race, such as wolves and large spiders. The game features cooperative play and versus play. In closing Overlord II is a comedic third person adventure. It's worth a rent, not so much a purchase. My final score a 4 out of 5.
