  Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 is a great game. It is very repetitive though. You will be using the same attacks all the time. You will most likely build your team and then stick with them for the rest of the game. Even though unlocking other characters and costumes is fun. Fusion powers are a gre more »at addition and add some depth to the game. Heroes combine their abilities to make a "super attack." You can choose between two different sides. Depending on the side you will be limited to the heroes of that side. You can play through the game again and be on the other side. Although I found myself not wanting to. The graphics are really nice for a game like this, as well as the sound. Having over 20 nicely rendered heroes to play as. Plus 200+ fusion attacks each having a somewhat different sound is great. The voice acting could use some work. I'd say this game is a 4/5. « less

  This game is GREAT! The characters and moves that have been attributed to each one of them are vastly improved over the first game. The many characters make this game fun to play with others also. The best Marvel characters are found in this game.

  It was a good game. A few things had killed it though, like the story may have been a good idea on paper but the Civil War didn't last as long as it did in the comics. The other things is how you feel sorta let down once you've finished everything in the game, Why did they cut this so short compared more » to the first game? I like the improvements to the graphics, and how you don't have to worry about what special move you have to have equipped since each character only has four. I also enjoyed the fact that all characters leveled up even if they were not in your team. Though I think a lot of people were let down by the fact that there was virtually nothing to do after you beat it, even playing the game over again on the hardest difficulty will probably not keep enough people pleased. The max level being at 60 was a serious let down as well. This game was good, but you may want to rent it and try it out first. It's more of a fanfare for us Marvel geeks, even if the story feels a little weak. « less

  Having played both the first and now the second title, i must say i love them both. Ultimate alliance 2 adds alot to the first game in terms of game play and looks. Bugs and glitches from the first have been fixed and the use of the civil war story line in the game is well done. Unfortunately the more » amount of playable characters is deminished from the first game, hopefully this will be sorted with the addition of some new characters and missions in DLC. Im hoping for a third ultimate alliance personally, perhaps using the secret invasion storyline. « less

  The Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-Men, and your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man have returned to save the world again in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2. The sequel to one of the biggest Super Hero game of 2006. This action RPG stays true to it's roots with continuing the four person Diablo styled button more » masher and this time the heros must “fuse” their powers together to save the world from themselves! The story starts three years after the first Marvel Ultimate Alliance and introduces a combined story of Marvel's two best story lines including: The Secret Wars and Civil War. Both were huge factors that have effected the Marvel Universe still today. Which draws the line between real heroes and vigilantly ignorance causing a Super Registration act to come into play forcing all Super Heroes to give out their secret identities to the government, and the public. This new law creates a war between heroes with two new factions: The “Registered Heroes” enforcing the new law lead by Tony Stark (Iron Man), and the now America's Most Wanted heroes who are opposed of the law, lead by the shield wielding patriot: Captain America. The story has two different routes of story you can follow depending on which side you take, and after you beat the game get the option to choose the other sider by restart the story on a harder difficulty while able to continue your stats and character levels. As for the over all appearance of the game, all the characters including the enemies, villains, and NPC characters have had quiet a makeover, and the maps have gotten a lot more detailed not to mention more destructible. The game plays just like the first Marvel Ultimate Alliance giving you the chance to button mash as four super heroes by yourself, or you can bash-it-up with up to 3 other friends, with occasional 5 character played by the computer. But this time Ultimate Alliance 2 focuses more on team work, with the new "Fusion" moves system which allow two heroes to perform a team attack giving an extra edge on you enemies. Each mission has around three boss battles, and then a final boss. Most of the bosses have the same objective: Press "A" until dead, but the final boss always has some few more obstacles to over come to bring them down. The game also has an abundance of hidden collectibles and power ups, unlike the first game your there were a couple action figures you could collect to unlock some hidden characters, your now able to collect a huge amount of objects from Audio Logs, Team Power-Ups, Character Info, to Scenario challenges you can replay to power-up you heroes. Another great improvement is the ability to change your team at any time in the game, your also able to store up to two health packs at a time, and finally one of the best improvements are the power-ups given to each character that you can learn and improve from getting Mr. Fantastic to stretch longer, and fro Hulk's smash to well...smash more. But there are some downsides to the game. Starting with the repetitiveness and no real change from the first game. With the huge graphics upgrade it's kinda disappointing that the maps don't change much, and it seems all the enemies seem to just blend together, never changing up the game at all, leaving a somewhat bored feeling once you hit that third hour of playing. Another issue is the characters design, some character's voice acting are just terrible, while some characters look a little to buff, like as if Berry Bonds decided to dress up as Spidey this year for Halloween. And you wish there were more characters and more team power-ups, not to mention the ability to use a four hero fusion. But the biggest disappoint is being only to use the host's character's in co-op, now you can keep any collectibles you get durning the game, but any leveling you aquire will only be awarded to the host of the game, leaving you a sort empty feeling after playing two hours with a person you'll never meet again, and know their Gambit is now at level 37, and your at level 13. Overall the game definitely has some replay value to it, and I'm sure if you go down to the local comic book store, your bound to find some players to join you. And it's great to finally be able to be submersed in the Marvel Universe again, and the new Fusion powers are fun and entertaining to try them all. And I will admit unlock all the alternate outfit were a great little task to do. Being able to revisit the The Secret Wars and Civil War eras is a awesome experience.
