The songs are just how I remember them when I played this on my friends good old PS2. They are kind of old but some are good. The new Guitar Hero far surpasses this game though. I give it 3/5 Stars.
This one's my favorite, perhaps because of the song content compared to the others. Guitar Hero is pretty addicting, but I go through phases. The one thing I hate is how cramped my wrist and hands feel after playing!
I started with GH3 on the PC, and when I got my XBox, I went bin diving and got this for $12. At this price, it's an awesome value. However, I gave it three stars.
One star gets lost because there are very few master tracks from the original songs. Most of the covers are passable, but some are practically insulting. Covers of Rage and Iron Maiden? Please ... there's something painful about it.
Another star gets lost because the skill gaps between easy/medium/hard/expert are not an easy progression. If you are just starting to dominate easy ... medium will then kick your ass. Same thing going to hard. It's difficult enough to learn a new fret and more notes, but the speed increase makes processing all the new information all that much more difficult.
I prefer the speed and difficulty increase of the later Guitar Hero titles, but the first two games had better setlists in my opinion - which still makes me occasionally boot up GH2.
Awesome fun even when you suck hard core! you still have fun playing it. It does cause simulator sickness in many people... in this game it tends to be nausea, headache and visual issues ( between songs sometimes if you look at things they look as though they are melting ) but if you have no issues with fast moving games you should be fine playing this :) One of my favorite games.
