Eternal Sonata (360)

Eternal Sonata follows the adventures of famed composer Frederic Chopin as he travels through his own dream world filled more » with colorful characters and stunning locales. In a land where music influences both combat and exploration, Chopin sets out on a journey not only of self-discovery, but also one of redemption.Utilizing a combat system that rewards players for careful battle coordination, Chopin and his allies can unleash devastating combo attacks for even more damage while on the battlefield. To add even more depth, combat is also influenced by the powers of light and darkness. Depending on whether enemies or heroes are in the light or darkness, their attacks, abilities, and even physical forms might undergo massive changes, adding a whole new dimension of variety to every encounter. Will Chopin learn the secrets of the mysterious world he finds himself in? Will the powers of evil forever cast a shadow of darkness over the land? This was the game that made me become obsessed with RPGs! This game is absolutely beautiful. The graphics are stunning. The music is wonderful. I also loved the characters and the story. Everything about this game is perfect. This is definitely one of the best games I will ever play. If you are wondering about a good RPG to try out, do try this one. You won't regret it!

Didn't like it

I really wanted to enjoy this game, but it felt like it was just haphazardly put together.
My major gripe has got to be the story. Trying to avoid spoilers...There were times in the game where my characters would suddenly be expressing all these feelings about another party member, but I would be completely lost. when did this happen? It really would have benefited Namco Bandai to actually show these "feelings" and just the general relationship of the party building up and not just state it as fact. "Oh they…

I'm not sure how to review this game. It's not actually something I play (except once to try) but it IS a great game, it's just for kids I'd say.

I found this game was pretty fun to play, though I did get bored of the battle system at various moments. More importantly though, I really felt like this game was intellectually pleasing on a few levels, whereas most games (especially JRPG's) usually miss ever being at all interesting intelectually all together. Plus, you cannot deny this is one of the most beautiful games on the 360 in every essence of the word.

The game is a piece of art, both musically and visually.
Doesn't do much to improve on the classic "Tales of" battle formula, but it's a really game nonetheless.

Eternal Sonata is a very pretty game to look at with its beautiful cell-shaded graphics. It has a distinct look that no other game has, utilizing a soft color pallete and combining it with sharp character outlines. If there is a game that looks cute, this is it. The characters are all very "kawaii" with their big eyes and adorable outfits. It is not a complex RPG so it's great for first time RPG players but hardcore RPG players might not like having everything so…

I rented this from Gamefly when it fist came out and fell in love with it. I loved the idea of the plot, Chopin is dying and you enter his fevered dreams and set out on a magical quest.

While flawed in some areas the lush visuals bring the game to life, even if some of the voice acting isn't up to par with some other titles.

The battle system is one that starts simple and as you advance it opens itself to you and allows you to make it as…

This game is a masterpiece a fun battle system and an amazing story, the only problem concerning the story is the length of cutscenes you can find yourself sitting there for at least 15 minutes at a time watching them talk, although the voice acting is good I'd rather play a game than watch a film. The battle system is a very good mix of turn based and real time with items just a button push away and only the 4 face buttons to worry about, each one is connected…
