It's 1 of the most intense, complex, & skill based fighters you'll ever play. The fighting system is very smooth compared to other 360 fighters; I have all of them other than MK vs DC(DC just kinda sucks with the exception of batman). The game has many unique features for a fighter. One of which is a penalty for running away to much, you try to pull something like run away and fire ball the whole game you get puished, it puts a negative penalty that alters stats of your character in a negativve way(either reduces your damage or increases the damage you take I'm not sure.) It's one fighting game that is definantly not button masher friendly. Unlike street fighter 4 where every combo requires you to press buttons insanley fast to do a combo, blazblue requires you to get the right timing on the hit (which differs depending on the size of your opponent.) I used to love SF4 but after blazblue SF4 just feels to slow, I don't meen to hate on capcom or sf4 though they're both good. I would explain all of the features of the game but you would be reading a book if I did. What I can say is the game is definently worth picking up if your a fan of fighters or if your just curious about them. Get the limited edition the bonus dvd explains tons of stuff that you probably won't notice if you don't check it out or at least read the instruction book, plus it shows some basic to advanced combos and strategys with each character which are pretty important to know about if you wana make it in high end game play. This game also has an increadibly good story and a very long story mode with alternate paths to choose as u go for each character & once you've seen enough of each characters story it will unlock the true story and ending, so it deffinantly has replay value for thouse of you that are big into story mode or "campaign" in fps lingo.
This is Guilty Gear remodeled and turned into one of the deepest fighting experiences since... well... ever. Only the Virtua Fighter series can come close to the level of depth Aksys put into BlazBlue.
If you're a fan of the genre, then stop right here and buy this. It might be premature, but this might be the best fighting game of all time (yes, even better than 3rd strike). It's that good.
I rated this game early, but after a lot of time with it, I know that giving it the highest score possible was the right thing to do.
As fans of the fighting game genre, we've been used to getting the same games recycled to us, buying them, and accepting them. Finally, in comes a new IP that despite being released in the same year as Street Fighter IV, King of Fighters XII, and possibly Tekken 6 finds it's way immediately into player's consoles with no sight of coming out anytime soon.
Many would suggest that the high critic scores helped (9.4 at IGN), and although it would warrant an initial buy, a lot of people are STILL playing this. Strong netcode, a balanced and diverse cast, and new mechanics make every single fight an absolute delight.
Twelve characters. Some might argue this number is low, but remember that the newest Street Fighter introduced four new characters. These are twelve new characters that have never been in any game and are entirely different from other-another in all aspects. Some players have more health than others, but suffer a speed loss. Some can attack from anywhere on screen but will die in only two combos if they make a mistake. Only twelve characters, but picking them up takes time not only to learn their moves, but learn the specifics on how they deal with each other character.
This game did more than it had to perhaps, in introducing a story mode that people will actually care about. I have to warn, it is not a simple to understand story, and ends in many cliffhangers than possibly won't be answered until the next iteration. However, you can see how much people care about this story in the community by hitting up a few forums, and seeing the 100+ pages of story analyzation that has occurred. This one is heavy.
This is not just another fighting game. I don't want to believe that, I want to believe that all other fighting games will look at this game and find ways to improve their own games. Find ways to make it new again and help revive this genre that has become somewhat a niche in gaming. BlazBlue's low level of entry-required will hopefully bring newcomers into the genre for a long stay.
