  • As the comparison has been made you can think of Banjo Kazooie as a sort of Grand Theft Lego. While you wont be stealing cars or beating hookers here you still can take on a number of different missions at any given time at in any number of ways. And thats thanks to Nuts and Bolts deep vehicle creator tool. With it you can make any number of vehicles that operate on land, sea air or anything in between. Despite the game's friendly appearance though, there is a learning curve that may put off the more casual gamers out there. But if you stick it through and keep an open mind you'll be sure to enjoy the game.

The environments are huge and beautiful and alot of fun to play in, but the missions are a toss up. There are some great ones, sprinkled with the generic ones such as racing around and the ones that will likely just frustrate. It's is good then that often times you'll have plenty else to choose from.

The controls for the most part are pretty solid. The ground vehicle controls might be a bit off from what you expect and may take a bit of time to get use to, but the controls for air and water based vehicles feel spot on. Aside from the missions theres plenty of optional stuff to in the hub world and you do get to try out a little platforming in the hub world.

I'm almost scared to say it from the inevitable response from fans of shooters, but I have to admit, Nuts and Bolts is probably the best looking 360 game I've seen. It's beautiful stylish and impressive considering the scale. There is texture pop in problem however. Nothing major and if you're a regular player of 360 games you're probably use to it. The soundtrack is also stellar, full of wonderfully well composed orchestrated tracks. But the sound effects may annoy some peaople I guess.

For a fourty dollar game, Banjo gives you well more than your money's worth. Fist you have the single player campaign. It took me about twenty hours finish, although I'm sure if you rushed through it you end up at a time of around fifteen hours. But theres just so much more to do in the single player that you could squeeze way more time into it.

Then there the competitive multiplayer. It's not the best, but it gets the job done, thats for sure. You can compete in many different sports, races, battle and objective themed games with plenty of arenas to do them in. Multiplayer has split screen and online options and in case you're wondering, you can use the vehicles you've built in single in the multiplayer. On top of this you can also save films from single player and multiplayer, take clips or pictures from them and share them with your friends, Halo 3 style. And you can also share blue-prints of your vehicles.

With all that Nuts and Bolts has to offer, with how well put together it all is and with how cheap it is I'd say there really no legitmate reason for any 360 owner to skip this game.

  • Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts is a game that never stopped being fun for me. It's an odd duck that doesn't fit into any conventional game genres and probably isn't right for everybody. Despite its friendly appearance, Nuts & Bolts isn't exactly easy to pick up and play and might be over the head of some small children. There's a lot of depth here and the vehicle creation tools allow you to flex your mind and your fingers at the same time. This is a great change of pace from the usual Xbox 360 fare and a game that will offer a lot of fun to those willing to invest some time in it.

  • The concepts at play in Nuts and Bolts are pretty cool, but I had a hard time shaking the feeling that this should have been a platformer. It's gorgeous, which doesn't help because I would have loved to explore the world Rare created. Had they used these ideas to create a new IP, this would have been an easier pill to swallow and easily a must play. That being said, building vehicles had incredible depth and feels like virtual Legos. The game starts to fall apart though when you actually put the vehicles to use on incredibly menial tasks and competing in half-hearted races. Give me the same build-a-car idea in a spiritual successor to Diddy Kong Racing and it would be a dream. Give me a new Banjo platformer set in this world, I want to play that! In the mean time this, Unfortunately, suffers an identity crisis.

  • This game is a lot of fun, for those who like to build and create things, this game is for you. It's really cool putting together different parts, and making crazy things, and seeing what come out of it.

  • if you want the thrill of experiencing a game that looks and plays like a sub-par n64 game, this is your chance. i cannot believe that this was developed post '97.

  • This is definitely a very fun game to play. The graphics are absolutely gorgeous, and the level layouts are definitely very cool. My only real gripe about this game is that the vehicle physics are spotty at best, meaning a bump can send you spinning out of control. Also, the variety of games could have been better. I would have liked more interesting mini-games to incorporate driving into, although I did like the soccer mini-game.
