Assassin's Creed is a pretty cool game. You run from building top to building top killing people along the way but you do have to have stealth or you'll die (unless your my friend who rides around on a horse for an hour killing everyone in the kingdom.) This game is pretty hard to get through and if your looking for an action game I'd recommend to you Halo where you blow through tons of grunts with out any stealth or wait. I give this game 4/5 Stars.
I'm a big fan of AC, but i can see some of the faults that some folks find with it. It can be repetitive, but the visuals never get tiring. The game does a good job of creating an epic and rather cinematic feeling. The detail in the towns is pretty astonishing. I'm very much looking forward to AC2!!
It's one of the best games I have played. If you like medieval and open level settings, then this is the game for you. It offers many primary and secondary plus collecting quests that will surely keep you occupied for many hours to come.
Plenty of people hated this game for reasons that I can't disagree with: I think everyone can agree that this game was released while still being very rough around the edges and thus failed to really reach its full potential.
So why have I given it 5 stars? Because for me the sheer thrill I had while playing this game (running, jumping, stabbing, climbing) easily made up for the lackluster controls and repetitive gameplay.
But lets focus on the latter: repetitive gameplay. I think this has a lot to do with how you play the game. The game is a sandbox style with optional side missions and a main path for progression. If you follow that path from beginning to end you are definitely going to get bored. I tend to run off the beaten track a lot, and was amazed by the depth of the city's and the incredible liveliness present in the civilians who jeered, cheered, taunted and sometimes screamed as Altair came thrashing through a crowd.
I can see how some people would not like this game, but I got exactly what I wanted out of it and more. I couldn't have been happier. Bring on Assassin's Creed II!
This game is my all-time favorite game as of October 24th, 2009. If stealth is your name and assassination your game, then I would strongly recommend this title for you. I also would say that this game would be a great first game if you have never played on an Xbox, the basic controls are simple, but you really get to train when you execute amazing killing combos.
