Back in the day I had the first Atari in my neighborhood, (before it got stolen but that’s another story.) All that was available to play were things like pong and such but I loved it. Back then games presented seemingly endless puzzles to figure out. I could challenge my friends and my physical prowess or lack thereof was never a factor. Over time video games began to simulate actual experiences and I began to apply my intellect to figuring out those puzzles as well. It was always a great diversion from the seemingly endless trials of day to day teenage living. To a large degree video games were about escapism.
